Even when one
is alone, the mind looks for stimulus and the desire to defeat FATE
and overcome ones own limitations. Games are challenging,
relaxing and enjoyable. They offer fun, excitement and mental stimulation.
Games are played alone, ex. crosswords, solitaire or by two or more
individuals. You can play for money, ex. casino style games, or just
for fun. Over the centuries, games have remained the same, while other have been changed or modified to offer new challenges. A good example is Bridge. Its origin can be traced back some 400 years to the development of WHIST in England. But it was only in 1896 that the game of Bridge itself evolved. In 1925, Contract Bridge was developed and within a few years, it was by far the most popular form of the game. |
